WELLSVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Allegany County SPCA is asking for help for a cat named Phoenix who was brought in after being rescued from a fire along with two other cats.

The SPCA says Phoenix has severe burns to his face, nose, mouth, eyes, ears and feet as well as damage likely to his lungs and airway.

Officials say Phoenix needed more specialized care and he was transported to Cornell.

Although he is probably in a lot of pain, the SPCA says he is in great spirits, he loves his face scratched and rubbing against your hand as you pet him.

The SPCA says the doctors in Cornell believe he is improving and he is even eating on his own.

Officials are asking for public help in the form of donations so that Phoenix receives the best care he can get.
