TOWN OF FRIENDSHIP, N.Y. (WKBW) — An Allegany County man faces multiple charges after fleeing a traffic stop and leading New York State Police on a pursuit.

Police say 30-year-old Cory Pearse of Cuba, N.Y. was arrested for DWAI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful fleeing of a police officer and unlawful possession of marijuana.

According to police, troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on Pearse's vehicle on West Main Street in the Town of Friendship Saturday.

Police say Pearse failed to comply and began to flee, eventually fleeing his vehicle and crossing the eastbound lanes of Interstate 86 and into the median on foot.

When Pearse was taken into custody, police say he admitted to using Gabapentin and marijuana prior to driving and allegedly showed obvious signs of impairment.

He was arraigned in Friendship Town Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail on $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.
