ALBION, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Albion Police Department announced 29-year-old Nicholas Monacelli has been charged in connection with the death of an 11-month-old child.

According to police, on July 28th, 2017 authorities responded to a residence in the Village of Albion for a report of a child with a head injury.

11-month-old Damon Carter was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital as a result, he died the next day.

Following a two year investigation police determined Carter was in the care of Monicelli when Carter was found with the severe head injury.

Police say Monicelli's actions knowingly and recklessly endangered Carter and resulted in Carter being injured.

Monicelli is being charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.

He was arraigned in Albion Court and placed in the Orleans County Jail on $1,000 bail. He is due back in court in early May.
