BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Agnes, a 24-year-old giraffe who has called the Buffalo Zoo home her entire life, is now receiving end-of-life care.
The zoo says Agnes is suffering from advanced arthritis and other health issues that have not responded to treatment. The zoo says its team is doing everything it can to make her final days as comfortable as possible.
Agnes was born on August 8, 1994. She has given birth to a number of offspring, including Zuri, who still remains at the zoo.
"Agnes has lived a long life and will leave an even longer legacy," said zoo president and CEO Norah Fletchall. "It's a testament to the exceptional work of our teams here at the Zoo that Agnes has lived well into her golden years. "
