Administrator admits to ripping off local Catholic schools

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Cheektowaga man is heading to jail after admitting he ripped off two local Catholic Schools.

While working as the business administrator for South Buffalo Catholic Schools, 57-year-old Dennis Potozniak wrote false checks for tuition reimbursement and raffle winnings, which he then deposited into an account for himself.

Between April 2014 and April 2017, Potozniak embezzled nearly $50,000 from Notre Dame Academy and South Buffalo Catholic School.

After pleading guilty to Grand Larceny in November, Potozniak will now serve two 2 months of intermittent incarceration followed by 5 years probation.

So far has has paid $65,000 in restitution.
