Karen Young's business, A Gift Box at the Beach, isn't in danger of flooding despite being located feet away from an already flooded Olcott Beach.
“We're obviously high and dry up here,” Young explained.
But, there is concern business this season will be a wash. “A lot of people are confused that things are closed,” she said.
So, business owners are all banning together to make sure tourists know they're still open. “We definitely are trying to get it out there on social media because it's shared there a lot quicker. And, word of mouth. We're telling everyone to tell your friends,” Young explained.
The Town of Newfane also hosts festivals, parades, concerts and other events year-round. Those events are still planned for the summer. “We make sure we have something every weekend for people to come and make that draw,” said Newfane Town Supervisor, Timothy Horanburg.
