LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 17-year-old girl from Lockport has accepted the 50 Yard Challenge. A challenge created by Rodney Smith Jr. in an effort to get kids to give back. Participants of the challenge must mow 50 lawns for the elderly, disabled, veteran, or single parent for free.

Mia Fiorello of Lockport joined the challenge in June. So far, she has mowed 14 lawns.

"It seemed like something that would be good for the community here because of lot of these people can't mow their lawns themselves and have low income."

Mia is one of nine children In New York State participating in the challenge, but worldwide, she is one of a handful of women.

"It's actually very eye opening to be one of the very few women doing the challenge because it shows that a lot of women don't think they can so something like this."

If you are in the Lockport area, meet the requirements and would like your lawn mowed feel free to reach out to Mia via email (miafiorello2002@gmail.com). Or, if you want to join the challenge, click here.
