NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Niagara Falls Police say a 9-year-old girl was forced out of a stolen vehicle at gunpoint Friday night.

According to police, the girl's mother arrived at an address on the 1400 block of Ferry Avenue to pick up her children just before midnight Friday.

The 9-year-old girl asked her mother if she could stay in the car while the mother got the other two children dressed and handed off her work schedule for the next week, the mother allowed her to wait in the car.

When the mother attempted to return to the vehicle she realized it was gone and called police.

Shortly after alerting police her car was stolen with her child inside, the 9-year-old girl turned up at their home in the Jordan Gardens housing complex.

The girl told police she was sleeping in the vehicle when a man jumped in and drove off.

Police say that the girl said he hit something which caused her to hit her head, but he continued driving until he realized she was in the backseat when he stopped and put a gun in her face and told her to get out of the vehicle.

A passerby on Linwood Avenue noticed the girl after she was ordered out of the vehicle, police say she told the passerby what happened to her and the passerby brought the girl home.

Police say the vehicle was found sometime after the incident but no arrest has been made and a suspect has not yet been identified.
