BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — In the midst of a movement in New York to legalize recreational marijuana, a cannabis company is going to host a "420 Community Day" this Saturday in Buffalo.
Flora Buffalo is sponsoring the event, offering a free day of activities to celebrate 420.
Flora says this day of service represents a novel approach to the cannabis lifestyle-themed events traditionally held across the country every April 20.
The event will feature a volunteer service project, a cookout at Martin Luther King Park, and education about the benefits of legalized cannabis.
From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the African Heritage Food Co-Op on Clinton Street, there will be a distribution of boxes of fresh and health food to families on the east side.
Then from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park, there will be a celebration with food, music and dancing, all in an effort to end the war on drugs.
This event comes as Flora looks to build a massive new cannabis campus in Buffalo that would bring hundreds of jobs to the area.
