BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York's crackdown on underage drinking resulted in a record number of fake identification seizures in 2018.
The state seized 892 fake documents as part of of the initiative. That's up from 814 in 2017.
The year-round operation focuses on concert venues, bars, restaurants and alcohol retailers across the state.
Of the nearly 900 fake IDs seized in 2018, 335 were taken from the Western New York area, and almost 400 arrests were made.
