21-year-old in critical condition after crash in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) — Niagara Falls police say a pedestrian was struck just after midnight Sunday and is in critical condition.

The crash occurred on the 1900 block of Walnut Avenue near 20th Street, a 30-year-old Niagara Falls man says he swerved to avoid a pedestrian in the road.

After swerving the 30-year-old driver struck two trees and the 21-year-old male pedestrian.

The pedestrian was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and then transferred to ECMC where he is in critical condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

There is no word on any charges at this time, police say the crash is still being investigated.
