CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) — Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and Westfield Police responded to an area of Ripley Beach Thursday around 6pm for the report of a male in distress in Lake Erie.

Investigation found that four people had gone to the beach to cliff jump into the lake, but the waters were very rough at the time.

Two 19-year-old males did jump into the water. One was found sitting on rocks at the bottom of the cliff. He was treated for minor injuries.

The other male, identified as 19-year-old Alex Musser of Waterford, Pennsylvania, was unable to get out of the water and had drowned by the time first responders arrived.

Musser was recovered Friday afternoon.

The sheriff's office says there was no foul play involved and no charges will be filed.
