THOROLD, CANADA (WKBW) — A long, slithering and dangerous reptile is no longer on the loose thanks to brave officers.

Officers were able to find and capture a 14-foot-long, 80-pound python in Thorold, Canada Wednesday night. Niagara Regional Police say they called the Lincoln County Humane Society in St. Catherines. Officers with the humane society were able to rescue the python.

It's unclear where exactly where the officers found the python-- except that it was in an industrial area in Thorold.

Police are now trying to find the owner of the python. According to authorities, the python was not registered with the city and is "expressly prohibited."

The Lincoln County Humane Society will house the python and look for a new home for the snake.
