Assemblyman Mickey Kearns is working to change driver’s licenses to help first responders get to those in need during an emergency situation like the Snowvember storm.

Kearns is asking Governor Andrew Cuomo, through an Executive Order, to amend current licenses to give emergency medical personnel and license medical professionals the option to have a designation on their licenses.

He said many of those people could not get o their jobs because they were turned away when the road was closed. He said this designation will allow authorities to swipe the card and get information from a database.

“It will tell who should be on the road and who should not be on the road,” Kearns said.

Kearns said currently veterans can opt to have the designation on their license, along with organ donors.
