Presidential candidate Ted Cruz announced late Tuesday he is suspending his bid for the White House.

This came as a shock to some local supporters, like Russ Gugino, who is the  Western New York campaign coordinator for Cruz.

"We have to accept reality and the people have spoken and when the people have spoken you have to go with their wishes," Gugino said.

Meantime, local Trump supporters like Carl Paladino are rejoicing, saying Trump can now finally focus on beating Hillary Clinton.

"It's a great night for America," Paladino said. "I would hope all Republicans, Conservatives and Reagan Democrats can rally behind Trump and focus on Hillary next."

Gugino says the tough part now is that the Republican party is divided.

"There is a divide in the Republican party now, a major divide," he said. "It's not just a divide between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, it's a divide between Donald Trump and a lot of people who don't like Donald Trump and those people are called Republicans."

Gugino says in the near future Cruz will be addressing his supporters.

Trump's team says the momentum will keep going.

"The focus will continue and he will keep that focus until he has the 1237 delegates and then he'll shift to Hillary and mop the floor with her," Paladino said.
