A Cheektowaga woman and her 9-year-old daughter, who is autistic, have been reunited with their beloved dog, four days after it went missing.

The Shih Tzu/Poodle Mix named 'Toby' was returned to its rightful owners, the Aviles family, Wednesday night.

Sharlene Aviles says Toby got out of their yard Sunday.

A surveillance camera captured video of the pup being picked up by someone in a car, who appeared to be saving the dog from being hit by oncoming traffic.

Aviles says the woman asked around the neighborhood to find Toby's owners before taking off with him.

The pup's disappearance left her daughter, Elise, distraught.

After 7 Eyewitness News aired the video surveillance footage, a viewer recognized the person who took the dog, and immediately reached out to that person and our newsroom.

By late Wednesday evening, Toby was back home and Elise was jumping for joy.
