Local artists find success at Allen West

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - This weekend is big for Allentown. Both the Allentown Art Festival and the Allen West festival will see thousands of art enthusiasts roaming the area and meeting with artists. Allen West, the rather unknown festival is much more focused on local artists.

"We decided that we wanted to highlight the local artists. The people that are here, you know the little guy" Gretchan Grobe of Allen West said.

By focusing on more local artists than the Allentown Art Festival it gives great exposure for people like Erika Hartke Wilson.

"Buffalo has this artist vibe and these friendly people and you can be as different as you want" Hartke Wilson said.

Hartke Wilson owns Erika's Bead Creative on Main Street in Williamsville and sees the Allen West Festival as an incredibly important festival.

"It's like a really cool party that you get to make money at" Hartke Wilson said.

The Allen West Festival goes from 10-7 on Saturday, June 9th, and 10-6 on Sunday, June 10th.
