Disney's The Lion King left crowds roaring at Shea's Buffalo Theatre. But this week marked the end of the musical's successful holiday run.
According to Shea's, "over 88,000 people from as far away as Ottawa, Texas, and Illinois came to the theatre for the thirty-one performance engagement."
The production added a leaping $16.5 million in economic impact to area businesses and community.
"Shea’s is one of the pillars of Buffalo’s tourism industry and the crown jewel of the city’s theatre district," said Visit Buffalo Niagara President Patrick Kaler. "We’re thrilled to see the surrounding downtown hotels and restaurants benefit from the first-rate entertainment like Disney’s The Lion King that Shea’s brings in year after year."
Shea's Performing Arts Center hosted The Lion King December 13th, 2017 through January 7th, 2018.
What to see next? Waitress, a comedy-drama, starts its run on Tuesday, February 6th.
