Lewiston Police ask for help solving fatal 2012 hit and run

Lewiston Police are trying to solve a fatal hit and run from 2012 and are now calling on the public to help solve the crime.

59-year-old Loren Jacobs was walking on Mt. Hope Road, on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation, near his home on the 2200 block on February 8, 2012. Police say around 11:03 p.m., a driver of a 2000-2002 Chevrolet Cavalier hit Jacobs, who was not able to recover from the injuries and died.

According to police, the driver fled the scene heading west on Mt. Hope Road. The driver and vehicle have not been located by police.

Anyone with information related to the accident or anyone who may have witnessed the crash are asked to contact Lewiston Police at 754-8477. Confidential tips can be submitted to the department's tip line at 754-8477 ext. 9 or through a private message to the department's Facebook page.

"Lewiston Police are hoping that with the assistance of tips from the public we can help bring closure to the Jacobs family," the department said in a statement.
