Leandra's Law arrest after woman drinks and drives with a 6-year-old

A drunk driver hit a utility pole with a 6-year-old child in the car on St. Patrick's Day, according to the Village of Albion Police Department.

The Albion Police Department, Albion Fire Department and Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance (COVA) were at the scene of the crash in the area of 301 Hamilton Street in the Village of Albion.

Police say Courtney Robertson, 39, was drinking at alcoholic beverage at the time of the crash.

The child was not injured but was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital by COVA Ambulance as a precaution, according to officers.

Police say Robertson was not injured and was taken into custody at the scene.

She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a minor in the car (Leandra's Law), driving while intoxicated, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with no seat belt and moving from a lane unsafely.
