Niagara County lawmakers took up a last-minute resolution Tuesday night: whether to appropriate $35,000 for a proposed helicopter stunt that would feature the wife of daredevil Nik Wallenda. The vote passed unanimously.
Under Erendira Wallenda’s proposed display, she would hang suspended -- by her teeth -- from a helicopter flying over Niagara Falls. The stunt would commemorate the five-year anniversary of her husband's walk over the falls. There's no word on a specific date for the stunt.
Lawmakers said Wallenda's 2012 walk generated an economic impact estimated at $21.5 million, with $3.3 million in direct revenues to the city of Niagara Falls.
