Dismissal took place at its normal time for all schools in the Lake Shore school district, which were in lockout mode most of the day while Evans police search for a suspicious man.
No students were ever in any danger, police said.
Police ordered the lockout due to an ongoing investigation involving 27 year-old Jose Alvira. The investigation began in the village of Angola Friday morning, a short distance from one of the elementary schools.
Investigators say Alvira, who is wanted on an unrelated warrant, never threatened a school or children but his proximity to the schools prompted the lockout.
Around 5:30 p.m., Town of Evans Police received a tip that Alvira was at a residence on Monroe Avenue, in the Town of Evans.
Police say they learned Alvira ran into a wooded area prior to their arrival.
Around 5:45 p.m., officers located him hiding in the wooded area and took him into custody.
Alvira was wanted by the Town of Brant police on a warrant from the court.
