Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Southern Erie Counties are under a Lake Effect Snow Warning for the weekend.
The National Weather Service is forecasting rapidly changing weather conditions, with visibility a half mile or less at times.
Areas with the most persistent lake snow could see snow totals as much as 18 inches.
Gusting winds up to 45 mph will cause blowing snow, which will result in snow covered roads and may lead to difficult travel conditions.
The warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday.
