Lake Effect Ice Cream is opening a second shop in North Buffalo on Hertel Avenue and hopes to be up and running by Memorial Day.
The ice cream shop says Hertel Avenue was the most requested place for a second scoop shop, and it even includes 18 of its own parking spaces.
The shop owners say the new ice cream spot will be a smaller version of the original location in Lockport, with all of the same ice cream flavors, ice cream cakes, cannolis and cookie ice cream sandwiches.
"It seems like yesterday that Erik and i were Wheeling a chest freezer down Main Street in Lockport, filed to the brim with our little ice cream containers, hoping people at the Lockport craft fair would like our ice cream," co-owner Jason wrote in the announcement.
