Christian Gillie appeared in Lackawanna City Court on Friday. It was supposed to be for a felony hearing. But that was delayed after the judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation.

According to police, the 20-year-old allegedly broke into Robert Wheeler's home on Johnson Street early Tuesday morning, and repeatedly stabbed him in his bedroom. Friends said Wheeler died protecting his 4-year-old nephew who was also asleep in the room.

However, police still won't discuss a possible motive. Authorities found Gillie about a block away from the home.

Gillie’s charged with second degree murder. He is due back in court August 30. He’s being held in the Erie County Jail.
