Sears Holdings, the struggling parent company of Kmart and Sears, is closing 64 stores nationwide, including its Cheektowaga store on Walden Avenue.
BusinessInsider.com reports the stores will begin liquidation sales on Thursday and will close their doors for good in mid-December. The Cheektowaga location, across from the Walden Galleria, will go dark on December 11th.
There are less than 900 Kmart stores still in business. In 2012, there were 1,300.
Last week Moody's analysts released a report saying Sears and Kmart are likely to shut down completely unless they secure outside funding or sell assets.
