Jim Kelly is on his way back home to Western New York following surgery to remove his latest bout of oral cancer back in March.
The former Bills quarterback underwent twelve hour surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and spent several weeks recovering in the hospital. He was discharged on April 14.
On Wednesday, Kelly's wife Jill posted a photo of Kelly's doctor, Dr. Mark Urken, examining him. She captioned the photo, "See you in 3 weeks, Jim!” We get to go HOME!!!! Praise the LORD!!"
“See you in 3 weeks, Jim!” We get to go HOME!!!! Praise the LORD!! We’ve been in NYC for a month, and one day at a time, one prayer at a time, we have witnessed hope and healing. And as Dr. Urken has said numerous times, “it’s remarkable”. Your prayers and the incredible team of doctors God gave us at Mount Sinai...have blessed us beyond measure. We are still months away from compete healing, and a few more surgeries to go, but... WE ARE GOING HOME! And there is no place we would rather be!
This comes after Kelly himself hinted he would be returning home with his own Instagram post on Tuesday. Kelly posted a picture of himself in Central Park with the caption, "God willing we will be headed back home tomorrow."
