A number of jellyfish have been discovered in the waters of Lake Erie.

The jellyfish were originally found on a small side channel off the main stem of the Huron River in the City of Huron, Ohio around September 17,2013.

The fish were slightly smaller than a quarter and were swimming in a ball pint canning jar.

According to the Ohio DNR Coastal Management, jellyfish are not new to Lake Erie, and they are not invasive.

Coastal Management says individuals could spend their entire lives on Lake Erie and never see a freshwater jellyfish.
