Members of the First Church of God in Jamestown met for first time since a fire broke out at the church just one day after Christmas Wednesday night.

"The church as a people are doing well. We are optimistic about the future and waiting to have all the information from the investigators and insurance to be able to make a decision on what is next," a representative of the church told Eyewitness News.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 2 a.m. for a structure fire at the First Church of God on Falconer Street, according to Jamestown Police.

Demolition crews knocked down the remainder of the building Monday evening.

No one was injured in the fire. The church says it plans to rebuild. Donations can be sent to 118 Stowe Street, Jamestown NY 14701.
