A grand jury has indicted an inmate at the Niagara County Jail in a murder-for-hire plot designed to silence a witness from another crime.
Benito Gonzalez, 33, is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and one count of criminal solicitation.
Investigators say Gonzalez was trying to arrange the murder of a witness and a victim connected to another case in which he was facing charges.
Gonzales is being held without bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court September 12.
