Hurricane Harvey fuels gas hike in Texas, local prices remain steady

While Buffalo's average $2.43 gas price hasn't changed, the national average price for regular unleaded gas is $2.37, up four cents from last week.

The New York State average is $2.48 per gallon, up a penny from last week.

Gas price hikes have been mostly localized in the Texas area due to Hurricane Harvey. Officials say gas stations in the Houston area saw long lines of drivers waiting to fill their cars. Some stations along the Texas coastline have reported running out of gas.

Wider impacts to the region and the rest of the country will depend on Harvey's impact.
