An elderly hunter was found dead in a field in the Town of Concord Saturday afternoon.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard says 72-year-old Wladyslaw Wielgus was found unresponsive in the area of 11196 Wyandale Road.
Deputies say Wielgus's friend found him. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Wielgus dead.
According to investigators, the victim fell out of a tree stand the previous day and was trying to make his way back to the road.
Officials say Wielgus was found in the field with just jeans and a hooded sweatshirt. Deputies also say they found shoes along his trail and a crossbow near the tree stand.
According to the medical examiner, the Wielgus suffered a broken leg, jaw and sternum and died from the injuries.
