Local lawmakers are asking the State Department of Transportation to change how the Buffalo Skyway is closed off when it's shut down for severe weather.
Right now, Buffalo police officers use their patrol cars to block the Skyway when it's closed.
State Senator Tim Kennedy wants gates installed instead.
The state DOT has already agreed to install gates on the Church Street entrance to the Skyway, but Kennedy wants to see that process move along much faster.
