A section of George Urban Boulevard in Depew was closed Wednesday morning as fire crews battled a house fire.
The roadway was closed around 8:30 a.m. between Transit and Ledyard after fire broke out in the second floor apartment of the home. Though the fire was out quickly, the roadway remained closed for some time after the fire because of the amount of water on the road and the need for it to be salted to prevent ice formation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is not suspected to be criminal in nature.
No one was injured and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
