Crews responded to a house fire on Wallace Drive near Park Street on Grand Island Thursday night.
The fire started on the first floor just after 7 p.m. and soon spread to the second floor. At one point, heavy flames could be seen coming from the home.
No one was home at the time the fire broke out, but the resident returned to the scene while the crews were putting out the fire. The resident told firefighters there was a cat living in the home that was not recovered.
