One hospital is restricting certain procedures following an overnight water main break. Sisters of Charity Hospital is canceling all elective surgeries at it's St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga.
The hospital says they have a series of protocols in place in the event of a drop or loss of water pressure and that all other services, including the Emergency Department, are operating as usual. Those protocols include distributing bottled water, ice, waterless hand sanitizer, and other personal hygiene products to patients, visitors and staff.
Hospital leaders say they're following Erie County Department of Health directives, and that no tap water can be used for drinking or washing.
The Hospital’s Infection Control and Patient Safety Departments are closely monitoring the situation and they say all patient care needs are being met.
