"Quite honestly what we're doing is unheard of: opening a school building in a few short months," Holland Middle School co-Principal Jason Smith said.
Low enrollment resulted in the school being closed for over six years and now the return of the school is being celebrated.
Holland Central School District Superintendent Cathy Fabiatos said the last few months have been a whirlwind getting the school up to speed. She said the district has also partnered with Erie 2 BOCES to provide special education classrooms, enhanced school security, will be giving students tablets and has equipped all fifth and sixth grade classroom furniture with wheels, so teachers can rearrange classroom setups.
Most importantly, though, the district said it made sure that reopening the school means it will stay open.
"We have a staff that's creating miracles this summer and we will be ready next week," Fabiatos said.
