After two years of planning, the countdown to the commissioning of the USS Little Rock LCS-9 is underway.

On Saturday, December 16th, at 11:00 a.m. the new Little Rock will officially be commissioned in front of thousands down at Canalside, including veterans who once served on it's namesake the USS Little Rock CLG-9 at the Buffalo Naval Park.

On Friday morning at 9:30, before the historic ceremony kicks off, over 100 members of the USS Little Rock Association will honor and remember their fellow sailors who served on board the decommissioned Little Rock with a memorial ceremony to be held in the Hangar Building.

Tours will also be available.

Survivors are expected to take part in Saturday's commissioning ceremony.

With tickets sold out and 5,000 chairs already aligned, the committee expects anywhere between 9,000 to 10,000 people to attend the event.
