BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - A local grocery store chain is offering a free, three-part workshop to local young adults who are looking to get into the workforce.
Two out of the three sessions will focus on landing the job, with experts on hand to help participants make their resumes shine, prepare for an interview, and even practice for an interview by conducting mock interviews.
The third and final session will focus on succeeding once participants actually secure the job, helping them learn how to work in groups and develop leadership skills.
The workshops are being offered Tuesday, June 26, Thursday, June 28, and Wednesday, July 11, 2018 the sessions run from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Frank E. Merriweather Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave, Buffalo.
They are open to individuals ages 16 years old and up.
Here is a breakdown of the three sessions:
Session #1 – Preparing for the Interview – June 26 – The Key 3 P's - This class will dive into politeness, professionalism, and personalization for your interview.
Session #2 – The Interview – June 28 – This session will include time in a computer lab where students will transpose a handwritten resume onto the computer and walk away with their polished resume on a thumb drive for future use. Students will also have researched local companies between sessions and mock interviews will be conducted.
Session #3 – Being Successful in the Workplace – July 11 – This final session focuses on how to be successful once you've landed the job. Topics include working well in a team environment and developing leadership skills. A DiSC® Profile analysis will also be included.
The workshops are free but space is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
