Tops hosts job preparation workshop for teens

Tops Friendly Markets is offering a free, three-part workshop to local young adults who are looking to get into the workforce.

Tuesday marked the first of the three events and focused on resume tips and how to dress for success.

"It means a lot for Tops to be here and be part of the community. It's something that we're very passionate about," Tops Director of Customer Service, Cheryl Colbert said.  She continued, "And being able to support the community and help them to be able to thrive and land jobs is important to us."

The remaining workshops are being offered Thursday, June 28, and Wednesday, July 11, 2018 the sessions run from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Frank E. Merriweather Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave, Buffalo.

They are open to individuals ages 16 years old and up.

Here is a breakdown of the two remaining sessions:

Session #2 – The Interview – June 28 –  This session will include time in a computer lab where students will transpose a handwritten resume onto the computer and walk away with their polished resume on a thumb drive for future use.  Students will also have researched local companies between sessions and mock interviews will be conducted.

Session #3 – Being Successful in the Workplace – July 11 – This final session focuses on how to be successful once you've landed the job.  Topics include working well in a team environment and developing leadership skills. A  DiSC® Profile analysis will also be included.

The workshops are free but space is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
