Panasonic is ramping up production of its special modules that are an integral part of Tesla's new solar roofs, and the company is looking to expand its workforce here in Western New York.

The company held a hiring event Wednesday at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, with representatives making presentations and conducting on-the-spot interviews every 30 minutes.

Panasonic already employs 300 people at Tesla's Riverbend site and the company looking to fill 80 additional positions.

The new employees will help Panasonic grow its module production and also help the company expand its manufacturing to solar cells.

"It's going to be kind of a clean room environment, and the folks that we hire will have to gown up, said Terry Vanepps, Talent Acquisition Manager, Panasonic Eco Solutions. "We're going to have examples of what that gown looks like. So they'll be working with different chemicals on making the solar cells."

The hiring event ran from 5 to 8 p.m. If you were unable to attend, you can find open positions here.
