Hamburg Police responded a report Saturday afternoon of a hiker who had fallen over the cliff at the Eighteen Mile Creek Park.

Police were assisted by the Hamburg Fire Department, Hamburg Water Rescue and Eden Emergency Squad a little after 4:30 p.m.

First responders say they found a 20-year-old Angola man in the creek after he had fallen about 100 feet after losing his footing on slippery leaves and mud. Police say he was trying to find a way down to creek bed after getting off the marked trail.

Officials say the man was alert and responsive and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, he was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight.

Hamburg Police are reminding hikers to stay on the marked trails to watch their footing while hiking.
