The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a High Wind Warning for six out of the eight counties of Western New York.

The warning will go into effect at 5 p.m. Saturday and last until 8 a.m. Sunday.

This affects Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming and Chautauqua counties, but communities along the Lake Erie and Lake Ontario shorelines will be the most affected.

The NWS says winds will be strongest overnight between Saturday to Sunday with Southwest wind gusts ranging from 20 to 30 mph up to 60 mph.

The winds could bring down trees and power lines, resulting in scattered power outages. Travel may also become hazardous for high profile vehicles.
