Meet Ryder, the wirehaired Vizsla from West Seneca. For Ryder's owner, Brian White, the show-stopping canine also serves as a lifeline.
A few years ago, White was forced to have his left leg amputated due to a blood clot. Depression set-in, but Ryder, who was only a puppy at the time, stepped up.
White says Ryder took it upon himself to become his therapy dog, helping White with daily tasks while also helping lift his spirits.
Ryder is now a certified therapy dog and he's making a name for himself on the national scene as well. On Tuesday, Ryder earned a merit award at the Westminster Dog Show in New York City.
