Healthy snacks to eat before heading to the airport

TIME.COM - When you travel, the temptation to head to the food court in the airport can be hard to resist.

But if you're looking for healthy options while you travel, nutrition experts say there are certain foods you can eat before you flight to avoid sugary, salty, high calorie snacks.

Nutritionists recommend:

-Snacks from home, like popcorn, mandarins, or trail mix

-Fruits & vegetables

-Yogurt

-Dark chocolate

-Smoothies

-Nuts & seeds

-Lean protein

-Oatmeal

-Protein bars

-Salads

-Water

And nutritionists also say there are some foods that you'll want to avoid snacking on when you head to the airport, including:

-Unfamiliar foods

-Risk-risk options, like buffets, or sushi

-Sugary snacks
