More than 30 people, including four teachers went "Bald for Bucks" Thursday at Amherst Middle School.

As part of the "Bald for Bucks" campaign, students and faculty shaved their heads or significantly cut their hair in exchange for donations. The money then goes to support the patient care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

David Mansfield is a teaching assistant with Amherst Central Schools.  He went bald in honor of his wife who is a cancer survivor and his Aunt Terry who passed away from breast cancer.

"Unfortunately cancer touches a lot of lives in Western New York and it's always good to show the students that they can make a difference whether it's with a few dollars or a couple of hundred dollars," Mansfield said.

Last year, Amherst Middle School raised more than $9,400. Organizers are still counting this year's donations, but they say they've already surpassed $11,000.
