Usually, it's the volunteers who provide the meals.

On Wednesday, it was their turn to be served.

Under the hot summer sun at Cheektowaga Town Park, about 250 volunteers from Meals on Wheels for Western New York gathered for a "Hats off to you!" appreciation luncheon.

The theme of the event was encapsulated by a light-hearted hat competition. Attendees made and wore creative hats, with the winners taking home prizes.

Some of the volunteers have been volunteering with Meals on Wheels for months.  Others have been volunteering for more than a decade.

Meals on Wheels serves 3,600 of the community's homebound seniors and vulnerable disabled neighbors, throughout 25 different delivery locations.

7 Eyewitness News Anchor Ashley Rowe emceed the event.  7ABC is a proud partner of Meals on Wheels for Western New York.
