TSA officers stopped a man at the checkpoint in the Buffalo-Niagara Airport after observing he was carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun on Friday.

Officials say as the man began the checkpoint screening process, an officer spotted the .380 caliber handgun in his carry-on bag with the help of the checkpoint x-ray machine. The gun had seven bullets in total, including one in the chamber.

NFTA Police showed up to the scene, confiscated the firearm, and the Batavia man now faces weapons charges.

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect at this time. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
