Friday's meeting between Congressman Chris Collins and the Army Corps of Engineers focused on the issue of waves splashing over the break wall onto Route 5 and freezing over causing that stretch of road to close.
The famous ice-car from 2016 is a great example of the strength of the waves that hit the break wall in Hamburg.
Storms are nothing new to C.J. McDonnell, who's been a bartender at Hoak's restaurant in Hamburg for 35 years.
Bad weather seems to be a plus according to McDonnell. He believes that the worst the weather gets the busier they get with people watching the water slam into the wall.
McDonell does see the benefit of a new break wall, making life easier with fewer road closures allowing more commuters to come next winter.
