Hamburg man found driving with large light post lodged underneath vehicle

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WKBW) - On Friday Orchard Park Police several calls regarding a vehicle dragging a metal light pole behind it down Route 219. 

Police say they caught up with the vehicle on Abbott Road, just south of Milestrip Road. The telephone pole became dislodged and slid across Abbott Road covering both lanes of southbound traffic.

After the vehicle jumped the curb and drove into the lot at the Mobil gas station on Southwestern Boulevard, police were able to take the driver into custody after he attempted to exit the vehicle.

Upon investigation, Raymond Duggan, 39 of Hamburg struck the 25-foot pole on Cliff Street in Buffalo while entering the 190 ramp and it became lodged under his car.

He's charged with a DWI and released on bail, according to police.

Duggan will return to OP Town Court at a later date.
