Habitat for Humanity is celebrating National Women Building Week in Buffalo by building new homes for low-income families.

Women Build Week highlights challenges women sometimes face as homeowners.

Habitat says it is building and renovating homes this week to give mothers a safe place to raise their children.

More than 300 Habitat organizations across the country and nearly 100,000 women from all 50 states are taking part in Women Build Week.

According to Habitat, Buffalo is the 4th poorest city in America, and more than 30% of the families in Buffalo live in poverty, with 63% led by women as the head of the household.
